The Phantom of the Opera

This September, Sofitel London St James is poised to unveil a limited - edition Afternoon Tea experience celebrating Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, in collaboration with LW Entertainment. Available daily from 16th September to 31st March 2026 between 12pm - 5:30pm.

Inspired by one of the world’s most beautiful and spectacular musicals, this decadent experience has been masterfully designed by pastry chef Lerrick Coelho who has split the Afternoon Tea into three ‘acts’ where delicate flavours collide with rich spices and complex textures.

Traditional treats such as warm scones will take to the stage, alongside a sensory symphony of delicacies created by Coelho, that encapsulate the mystery, passion and indulgence of one of the world’s most famous and most haunting love stories.

Exquisite brioche sandwiches filled with St. Ewe’s egg black truffle mayonnaise sit alongside Cornish crab tartlets and John Ross smoked salmon on malted grain. Vanilla and rose mousse with raspberry confit accompanied by an Opalys 33% white chocolate mask, and vibrant petitfours include ingredients such as dark chocolate mousse, Granny Smith apple, and an elegant nod to the musical with a mango, passion fruit and coconut opera cake.

With theatrical touches from the very first act to the final curtain, each course is revealed with dramatic flourish, ensuring the experience lingers long after the last delicious note has faded.

Marie-Paule Nowlis, General Manager of Sofitel St James commented:

“We are so proud to launch such an iconic Afternoon Tea experience, created in close collaboration with LW Entertainment and brought to life through the artistry of Lerrick Coelho.
